MPI Film School Graduate Wins at Toronto Film Festival - MPI News -  Motion Picture Institute in Troy MI - Rola Nashef courtesy of Detroit Free Press_1Motion Picture Institute graduate, writer, and director Rola Nashef was recently awared the Grolsch Film Works Discovery Award out of 25 film makers at the Toronto International Film Festival for her film "Detroit Unleaded".
The romantic drama centers around a young Lebanese-American man living in Dearborn, MI who operates a gas station in the city of Detroit with his cousin.  The film takes a comedic turn when a beautiful woman walks into their business. 
"We've never really seen Arab Americans portrayed in this way before, this sort of everyday life, and also being portrayed as young and sexy and hip and cool and funny," says the Detroit-based Nashef, 39, who's also the film's producer and writer.
