Vince Longo Brings First Feature Film By Orson Welles to Cinetopia Film Festival

Vince Longo Brings First Feature Film By Orson Welles to Cinetopia Film Festival - MPI News - Motion Picture Institute in Troy MI - Orson_Welles_First_Feature_Film

Motion Picture Institute alumnus Vince Longo was granted access to the archives of Orson Welles for a class at the University of Michigan.  He uncovered a screenplay that led to the search and discovery of the first feature film by Orson Welles that was never released to the public...until this weekend.  The film "Too Much Johnson" will be playing at the Cinetopia Film Fest on June 7th.

The Film's Background

This 1938 silent comedy was Welles' first professional film, and was not publicly screened. It wasn't intended to stand alone; he planned to mix live action with the film for a Mercury Theatre stage presentation. Recent University of Michigan Screen Arts and Cultures alumnus Vincent Longo, who “rediscovered” Welles’ original script for Too Much Johnson, will narrate the screening/reading with a brief historical introduction. Featuring the Cinetopia Players.
