Being an actor is no easy feat! The process of acting is multifaceted, from finding a way to bring characters of varying complexities to life to evolving your technique based on the demands of the script. Getting training and much experience is key to figuring out what your artistic voice is, how to stand out and get cast for projects.
Local actor and MPI alum Julie Kline sat down to talk about all of this with us, in hopes of sharing what she has picked up on her journey and encouraging others to stay creative. Later this month in October, two feature films that she was cast in will be released: 1) Mimesis: Nosferatu (available on October 13, 2020) and 2) Blood Immortal (available on October 20, 2020).
Julie’s acting career started on stage in high school and she soon transitioned into the world of short films while training at MPI. While here, she built up her network, allowing her the opportunity to enter the world of features. When asked about her recipe for success, she credits hands-on experience and training as the backbone for building her acting skills. That combined with the good fortune of attending classes at a film school put her in direct contact with directors, including Douglas Schulze (Mimesis: Nosferatu) and Robert J. Butler (Blood Immortal), both of whom cast her in their feature films.
