Transferable Skills to Succeed On Set and Beyond

People with creative powers like MPI grad Allison Martin can succeed anywhere they choose to be. Their confidence stems from the film school education they have received and the practical experiences they have mastered on set.

In the one year filmmaking program at MPI, students step on set from day one. The curriculum has students writing, producing, directing, and editing numerous film projects throughout the year. This array of learning experiences is what Allison credits to building her toolkit of transferable skills. She has an eye for design, is a strong project manager, understands how to create and manage a budget and see action items through from start to finish.

While in film school, Allison’s approach to filmmaking was thinking about the big picture and figuring out what the end goal is and then how to reach it step-by-by. With this mindset, it is no surprise that she has specialized as a Producer and worked on both short and feature film projects. The latest feature film that she has produced is called Blood Immortal. Its credits include a long list of MPI alumni, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
