Live Horror Filmmaking Workshop with Motion Picture Institute
Step onto a real film set and help create a horror movie scene in this fast-paced, hands-on filmmaking workshop led by industry professionals from the Motion Picture Institute.
Participants can act on camera or work behind the scenes using professional filmmaking equipment while learning how a horror scene is staged, lit, directed, and shot in a live production environment.
The completed film scene will be edited and posted online here and on MPI’s social media channels the following Tuesday.

- Visit the Motion Picture Institute booth
- Check in 1 hour before the workshop
- Pick up a copy of the script
- Costumes are welcome

Attendees will have opportunities to:
- Operate film equipment
- Learn basic staging and blocking
- Observe live directing techniques
- Experience how professional film sets operate
- Work alongside MPI filmmakers and instructors
All attendees are encouraged to stop by the MPI booth during the convention to meet the MPI team, pick up a brochure, ask questions about filmmaking training, and learn more about the Motion Picture Production Program at the Motion Picture Institute.
